In recent decades we have come to the point where we just see the car as a normality, an everyday part of life, but little do we ever look back to where it all started. The automobile, defined as a vehicle with an engine which is used for carrying passengers on roads, has come a long way since it was conceived in the late 1800’s. The invention of automobiles has had an enormous change on our economy. Automobiles also created change in other industries such as Oil and Gasoline. The use of oil and gasoline industries were greatly increases with the invention of the automobiles. These industries have sense sky rocket after the invention of the Automobiles. The invention of automobiles has sense raised the bar of social independence for life times to come.

In the early days before the invention of automobiles, people travelled to all places either by foot, horse or carriage. Then later on people came up with proper railroads and streets where they are now able to live further apart where they could have a smoother journey. Since then, the travel industry began to grow as inventors are getting creative in creating a simpler way to travel. In the late 1700s, a European inventor created the steam engine where it functions by using pressured energy from heat to push the pistons. Since the development of the steam engine people had been interested in creating self-powered vehicles, this manifested during the industrial revolution as the train.

In 1860, France inventor Jean Lenoir patented the internal-combustion engine that is similar to today’s technology. However, as time went on people became interested in creating a vehicle that wasn’t confined to tracks. The earliest attempts were moderately successful but served little practical purpose. Automobiles first began to truly spread with the invention of the electric motor which created cheaper, more powerful, and safer automobiles. Still the automobile still had numerous problems and were mainly in the hands of the rich. It was the development of the internal combustion engine.

Automobiles are one of the most important and prominent inventions possibly ever created.  Without automobiles our lives would be completely changed and different. Automobiles changed the way people traveled and lived.  Without cars there would be no drive-ins, drive-thru fast food restaurants, and shopping centers.  People depend on their cars whether they’re earning their living, or traveling to their dream vacation spot.  The United States is the leading producer of automobiles and is often called the “Nation On Wheels.”  The U.S has become very dependent on cars for transportation.  Racing automobiles is also a very popular sport which attracts millions of enthusiasts nation-wide.  Whether it’s a local race track, or a huge Nascar track, people love racing and the thrill, and also the danger.
